Sweet and Tangy Tilapia

I think there should be a rule of  "food physics" that if something tastes good, it tastes good with anything. It could be like a litmus test of sorts for good food. Obviously this couldn't be possible, because who would want to eat chocolate cream pie with pickles, (don't answer that please) but it's a nice theory... Anyways, if there was such a thing, this sweet and tangy sauce would definitely ace that test. Maybe you wouldn't eat the sauce with chocolate chip cookies, but it definitely kicks any steak, fish or chicken up to awesome
Here it is:

Sweet and Tangy Sauce
1/4 cup duck sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2-1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2-1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2  yellow teaspoon mustard

Stir everything together, and baste onto fish/chicken/meat before grilling, broiling or baking.

  1. yellow mustard? mustard powder? grainy mustard? just wondering
    but this sounds yummy~
i like strong flavors with tilapia so it doesn't taste like mud :)

  2. Yellow mustard, and I totally agree. This covers up the "fishy" taste well.

  3. My kids are not big fish lovers, but I bet this sauce would win them over! Thanks for the recipe. Can't wait to try this.

  4. how do you bake a sweet potato?

  5. Good question: rinse the sweet potato in its skin, and wrap in a paper towel completely. Microwave on high for 5 minutes, longer if its extra large. Enjoy!

  6. i had a baked sweet potato today for dinner!! omg yum- i did it in the oven.. bec i wasn't sure if i can put paper towel in the micro..
i seasoned it with olive oil, pepper, salt, and oregano! omg yum was not the word!!

and I had tilapia for lunch- with sliced tomatoes on top, seasoned with olive oil, pepper, salt, and oregano!

    Was inspired from your post!

  7. CB- Sounds delicious! I never tried seasoning the sweet potato, I'll have to try it!

  8. if i left out the mustard, would it still be good?

  9. Sure, the mustard just gives it a little tang, but its great without it too.

  10. My friend calls tilapia the tofu of the sea :) Does not taste like anything but the flavor you put on it!! The meal looks amazing!!
